Color Wheel Project
Hola! It has been a long time since I posted something! Recently we got an assignment that was really fun. We were supposed to take 6 pictures of things that were related, whether it be shoes, backpacks, or industrial machines. Then, we would put the pictures on a photoshop canvas. Then we needed to find a stencil online. I used a star stencil. Then we had to cut the picture into the shape of a star. Once we had done that with all of our pictures, we used a photo filter and tinted each photo a different color of the rainbow. Once I had done that, I applied a gradient to the background of my project to make it more appealing and to make the colors stand out more. Then I had to arrange the stars so that they were arranged by color, but they were also appealing to the eye. Then we were done! I thought this project was interesting because we had so much freedom on the subject of our pictures. We got to choose what items we wanted to take pictures of. I chose shoes because they were simple to find, because everyone wears shoes to school, and usually you can find a variety if you look around. I got most of my pictures in 1 day, and then I took some more on the second day. This project was also cool because we got to experiment a lot with different tools. It was really all about the freedom. Adios!

Abstract Expressionist Art
Hey guys! I know it has been a while, but I am back! We recently watched a movie about a four year old girl that painted artwork that was sold for a lot of money. We had to do an abstract art project. This project was so fun! It was cool because there was so much freedom, and what the picture looked like was really up to us. It didn't even take five minutes. All I did was use the paint brush tool in black and scribble around the blank canvas without picking up the mouse, so it was one very curvy line. Then I filled in the odd shapes with random colors. Some of them have the same color inside of them, but I tried not to put the same color next to each other except for in one case. I thought it was cool that I accidentally made the Star of David, so I colored it all the same color. See if you can find it! My picture kind of reminds me of stained glass windows that you can find in older buildings, like churches. This was totally my favorite project. It's quick and easy, but it makes a really cool picture. Ta Ta for Now!

Negative Space Project
I'm just going to tell you, right here, and right now, that I LOVE flamingoes. So that is why I chose to make my Negative Space Project about Flamingoes. I used the Quick Selection Tool to select the inside of the flamingo, then cut it out, so it was empty space. Then I filled in the empty space with the definition of a flamingo and words that describe it. Then we I put the word "flamingo" at the top, to clarify that my image was of a flamingo! That's all you have to do! Toodles!
Cartoon/Comic Project
Hey Bloggers, Karen here! Now I am going to write about the comic project we did. I especially enjoyed this project because we got to work in groups! And we got to pick our groups, so I had a lot of fun working with my friends! I worked in a group with Gretchen Wieners and Janice Ian. Our comic was about treasure hunting! We took our pictures outside in front of a tree. Once we got the pictures loaded on the computer, we had to resize each picture so they were all the same size. Then we created lines to divide the slides. Next we had to create the text bubbles and type the words inside of them. I found this to be a challenge because the bubble and the text were not grouped layers, so when you moved the bubble, it didn't move the text with it. To fix this problem, I grouped each text bubble layer with it. We also were required to make the whole comic black and white, and then add color back in. I thought this was cool, because you could color in everything, nothing, or just some parts of the pictures! It gave us a lot of freedom with the color. We also could change the color of what we were wearing. We colored in our jeans with a navy blue color, and each of our sweatshirts was a different color, aimed to be neon. One was lime green, one was hot pink, and one was bright orange. We also colored the trees in the background dark green. There was also an issue with this part of the project. Some of the clothing on our bodies were not closed, so when you would try to fill in one of the sweatshirts green, it would fill in more than just the sweatshirt. So to fix this problem, I had to draw in lines with the pencil tool. Then we added color in all of the things we wanted to fill in, and TA-DA! Our masterpiece was finished!
Visual Puns - "Deviled Egg"
This was another Visual Pun. For this one, I did "Deviled Egg". I got an image of a white egg, and then I got a devil's horns and tail. Then I drew arms and legs and a face on the egg with the pencil/paint brush tool. Then I got a pitchfork and put it in his hand. This image was really cool with the colors I used, but we had to use a filter on it, and we couldn't use one filter more than once. So I had to use a filter that made the picture black and white. I don't really like the effect I had to use, but it still looks kind of cool because you can adjust the effect and adjust how much of the egg is shaded. I chose to make only half of it shaded, so you could still see the face and the other details of the egg, but I was still following the directions by using one of the effects required. This wasn't one of my best projects, and it also wasn't one of my favorite assignments, but I still enjoyed looking at Visual Puns more closely.
Visual Puns - "Butter Fly"
This project made us look at puns closer, and it helped us to understand some of the puns better by creating a visual representation of the pun. This pun I made was the pun "butterfly". So I got a picture of a stick of butter, and a picture of wings, and merged them together to create a "butterfly". Then I drew legs and arms and a facial expression on him. I also put a cloudy background behind him to make it look more interesting and realistic. Then I had to use an effect on it, and make it look posterized. This was a really fun project!

Filtered Self Portrait
The object of this project was to take a picture of ourselves, on photo booth, or with a camera, and take the layer and duplicate it so that we have 9 of the same picture. Then we could rotate it, and filter it so it had a different effect. Some of the filters I used were mosaics, glow, and stained glass. These made the pictures look really cool. The mosaic one was one of my favorites because it made my picture look really awesome and it divided my picture into little sections. I also liked the filter that made my picture turquoise/teal/white, because those are my favorite colors. Then we had to emphasize the lines so you could tell where each picture's border was. Then we were supposed to add a background design that we really liked. I added a Vera Bradley background from their pattern called "Hope Garden". I really enjoyed this project !
All About You Project
For this project, I used the Quick Selection/Magic Wand tool to cut out my body and to make a silhouette. Then we were supposed to fill our body with some image that describes us or shows a hobby of ours. We also used the text tool to write words that describe us, or hobbies we have, or things we like to do. This project was really all about us, and it gave us a chance to show what we are like and to get to know each other.

Crazy Combos
This was a project to express our creativity. The assignment was to create one image with at least eight different layers. The image was supposed to be of one creature with different animals' body parts. Mine creature is made out of an elephant, a pig, a cow, and a whale. It is on a beach in Las Vegas.
15 Green Things
This is a project where we had to make one image out of 15 different files. These files were all pictures that were green. We were required to use a little piece of every picture. We could rotate, resize, color, and filter of each picture. We were supposed to create a balanced, interesting composition.
